4 January 1998 – Sabbath and Holy Days, Practices of Other Traditions

Thus saith the Lord unto Eben, concerning thy inquiry about the observance of the Sabbath, biblical holy days and certain other holy days, these are indeed worthy to be celebrated. If it be in private or with those of like-mind, let thy observance be sincere, and let it be done with reverence and thanksgiving unto me. For in remembering these days, thou dost honour my works and my Commandments given in ancient times.

Take from what is good and true from the Christians of past generations, for many who came before thee sought to honour me in their own ways. Behold, thy forefathers were Anglican and Episcopalian, and though they walked a path different from thine, there are things of worth which they upheld. I say unto thee, take what is worthy and noble, and let it be used in thy observances, that thou mayest enrich thy devotion and deepen thy understanding of my ways.

In thy study of the Bible and the Book of Mormon, thou shalt find guidance and truth. As thou celebratest these holy days, let them draw thee closer to me, and let them serve as a time of reflection and renewal in thy spiritual journey. The traditions of men can hold value when they are aligned with my Commandments and done in righteousness.

Therefore, I say unto thee, celebrate these days in the light of my Gospel, for as thou doest so, thou shalt find joy and peace. Let thy heart be turned to me, and let thy worship be sincere, that it may be pleasing in my sight.

Thus saith the Lord, Amen.
