O Lord, my God, thou Everlasting One,
Thou who reignest on high from all eternity,
Thou art the Father of spirits, and the Maker of my soul;
Before I was, thou didst know me,
And in thy courts did I dwell.
Thou didst ordain me in the council of Heaven,
And gavest me my portion with joy.
Thy voice did I hear in the stillness, saying:
“Go down, my son, and prove thyself,
That thou mayest return with glory unto Me.”
O how great is thy mercy, O Father above,
That thou shouldst prepare a way for mine escape!
For though I fall, thou raisest me up;
And when I wander, thou dost call me home.
Thy love endureth for ever, and thy hand is not shortened.
Through thine Only Begotten, thou didst show thy grace;
He whom thou gavest, thine Holy One of Israel,
To bear the sins of the world,
To descend below all things,
That we, thy children, might ascend.
Behold, I see thy longsuffering, O my Father;
Thou waitest patiently for thy prodigals.
Thou clothest the naked, thou feedest the hungry;
And thou runnest to meet thy child
While he is yet a great way off.
O Lord of Hosts, thy covenant is sure;
Thy promises are not as the vapours of men.
For thou hast said, “This is my work and my glory—
To bring to pass the immortality and eternal life
Of the souls that I have fashioned.”
Yea, even when I forget thee, thou rememberest me;
Thy Spirit whispereth in mine heart;
And thou sendest angels to bear me up,
That I perish not in the darkness,
But rise again unto thy presence.
Great art thou, O God of Abraham;
Faithful art thou, O God of Jacob.
Thou didst give me a Redeemer, and call me by prophets;
Thou gavest me thine holy scriptures,
And ordinances that bind earth and Heaven.
Thy House is a refuge, thy priesthood a blessing;
Thy Spirit a guide in the wilderness.
And lo, thy Son shall come again in power,
To reign in Zion and make all things new.
Thou hast not forsaken thy children.
Therefore will I lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
From whence cometh my help;
Even unto thee, O Father of Lights,
For thou lovest thy children with an everlasting love,
And thy mercy embraceth them all.
Let the righteous rejoice in thy name for ever,
And let the meek be comforted in Zion.
For thy glory shall cover the earth as the waters the sea,
And all shall know that thou art God—
Even the Father of our souls, forevermore. Amen.
