10 March 2018 – Remember the Sabbath

Thus saith the Lord unto my people, remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, for it is a commandment given from the beginning, and it is a sign between me and thee: Behold, six days ye shall labour and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. In it, thou shalt rest from thy labours and set aside the cares of the world, for it is a holy day unto me. I have blessed and sanctified the Sabbath, and it is to be a day of worship, a day of reflection, and a day of communion with me. [Exodus 20:8-11]

Remember the Sabbath, and hallow it with reverence, for it is a day appointed for you to draw near unto me. On this day, cease from your worldly labours and come unto me in prayer, in thanksgiving, and in the study of my word. Yea, let your hearts be lifted up in worship, and let your minds be filled with thoughts of my goodness, my mercy, and my Commandments.

Gather with your families, and teach one another the principles of my gospel. Let your homes be filled with the Spirit, and let your hearts be full of gratitude for the blessings which I have bestowed upon you. Keep the Sabbath day as a day of joy and peace, that ye may be refreshed and strengthened in your faith. Yea, honour the day by attending to the things of the Spirit, for in so doing, ye shall receive the nourishment of my grace and the light of my truth.

Remember, the Sabbath is a day set apart for worship, for partaking of the sacrament, for renewing your covenants, and for reflecting upon the atoning sacrifice of my Son, Jesus Christ. It is a day to cast off the burdens of the world and to focus your minds and hearts upon eternal things. Let not the distractions of the world draw you away from this sacred time, for the Sabbath is my gift unto you, a day of rest for your soul.

I say unto you, if ye will honour my Sabbath and keep it holy, I shall pour out my blessings upon you. Ye shall find peace in your hearts, strength in your labours, and joy in your homes. My Spirit shall dwell with you, and ye shall be filled with my light. For the Sabbath is a sign between me and you, that ye are my people and I am your God.

Therefore, my children, remember the Sabbath day, and keep it holy. Let it be a day of worship and rest, a day of drawing near unto me, that your souls may be sanctified, and that ye may be made holy unto me. Honour this day as I have commanded, and I shall bless you in all your doings.

Again I say unto you: “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” [Exodus 20:8-11]

Thus saith the Lord, Amen.
